The Town of University Park, Maryland is a small tree-lined community of 915 charming homes adjacent to the University of Maryland.  Listed for the second time by Washingtonian Magazine as one of "The Best Places To Live in Prince George's County," the Town has traditionally attracted many professionals working for the University of Maryland, the public sector, and private business.  The Town has its own municipal government, consisting of an elected mayor and seven council members that represent the seven wards of the town.  The preservation of the charm and character of the town is of the utmost concern.  The very trees that form the Town's natural canopy are why the cost of installing a solar system on individual home sites is prohibitive.  The fact that University Park is located in a forest of oaks, maples and pines, makes a centrally located solar plant with wide exposure to the sun far more efficient .
